My 40 gal build thread

So i started my tank stand yesterday since my tank and everything should be arriving Monday and Tuesday. So lets start with everything i got, i got 6-2x4's at 8' each. So i figured building this bad boy would be a piece of cake.. wrong! well lets say if your cutting wood with a 1/4" blade then your measurements are going to be off by at least 1/4" inch!! after a while i got it so i cut either on the line or left or right of the line to get the right dimensions :) and after 4 hours work and 2 hours of frustration and ~10-20 trips to Lowe's and back we have a level skeleton of 2x4's (oh by the way 2x4's are really 1.5x3.5's so dimensions off again, so much for significant figures in the world haha)
The tank dimensions are 36x24x12 so i made a stand that is 38x26x36 and the final product will be in the attachment since i cant get this freaking picture URL i cant find it anywhere in in irfanview. any tips on that would be great also. but anyways check out the pictures tell me how you think, i'll be adding a top and sides over the week/ weekend. more pictures to come! mobil (3.2.11) 091 800 pixles.jpg

I don't know what program/site that one is, but I've found photobucket to be super easy to use. It's specifically geared toward people who want to post their pictures online.

Looking forward to the build!

+1 on photobucket
Coming along nicely! Just in case, I would run another one 2 by 4 and each left and right side, better to be safe than sorry. Keep the pics coming!

is photobucket free? because this irfanview is somewhat annoying

and alex i think i will be doing that but do you think it should be vertical, horizantal or in a cross pattern?

I think that you have good support for front and back, just do the sides and you will be good to go!
If you are using photobucket to post a the test pic, you must copy the IMG Code and post it in the thread :) If you hold the pointer over the pic w/o pressing anything this option will appear, the just copy and paste.
P.S. Sounds like you are doing much better stuff than I am, I am working on my federal tax hw now...

It can be even easier than that, if you can believe it! Just hover over the picture and a drop-down menu will appear. Go to the bottom field and just left click on it, it will say "copied", then go to your reply field in RC and paste the code. Easy peezy!

yes, until you upgrade to Internet Explorer 9, then the luxury of that is gone :(

I'm a big fan of google chrome.....allows you to put your pointer over the picture and then copy the code....simple as can be! :)

okay i know everyone knows what an mp10 looks like, but holy ***t i didnt know how small it actually was.. i've read the demensions but never really compared it.. its litterly full length of my index figure (for comparison reasons) what a great engineering marvel.
<a href="http://s1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/Jed_Breitsch/?action=view&current=005.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/Jed_Breitsch/005.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

fts... boring though nothing in it :(
<a href="http://s1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/Jed_Breitsch/?action=view&current=006.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/Jed_Breitsch/006.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Under the stand.
<a href="http://s1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/Jed_Breitsch/?action=view&current=007.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/Jed_Breitsch/007.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Return section.. the return pump is slow.. only like 150gph so i kind of want to get a more powerful one but with the mp10 its alot of flow but the top of the water isnt really moving through the tank into the sump area to get skimmed...
<a href="http://s1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/Jed_Breitsch/?action=view&current=009.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/Jed_Breitsch/009.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
"sump" area:
<a href="http://s1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/Jed_Breitsch/?action=view&current=010.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/Jed_Breitsch/010.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
This is my own making of my return line, its pvc pipe along the bottom with holes drilled through to "spray" the water.. it works great but i think i need a more powerful return pump..
<a href="http://s1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/Jed_Breitsch/?action=view&current=011.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/Jed_Breitsch/011.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

anyone suggest any return pumps? i would really like the pump fitting to fit into a 1/4" flex tubing so i would have to mess with my plumbing but beggers cant be choosers.. any suggestions would be great!!
