my 40g Set-up

I just set up my aquarium (oceanic 40g stretch hex). I thought I might post a few pics for any who are interested... I apologize in advance if the pics don't turn out (I'm not very computer savy!)

*40g Hex tank (drilled back w/ homemade overflow box)
*matching stand (oceanic)
*custom canopy for lights (250w 10k w/ actinics)
*PVC plumbing
*15g tank (turned into sump to house skimmer, heater etc.)
*mag 5 return pump
*Powerheads on timed alternating "wavemaker"
*Deltec mce500 skimmer

Livestock, etc.
*47 lbs. "live Rock
*Mixed bed Substrate (lowest point 2"deep/highest 4" deep)

So far, the only thing I don't think I like about my aquarium is that those awful pumps are such an eye sore...not to mention sometimes they "hum"

Looking pretty good. Pendant is pretty cool. What kind of pump is that? Modified maxi-jet?

Looks like you are going for some sps. Should look really nice when it starts to grown in.

I have a YH Jawfish right now...aside from that I'm thinking a black cap Basslet, some Fire/Blood shrimp, and some zoanthids (to fill out the bottom) as my next additions.

Oh, and yes those are the Maxi Jets w/ "sure flow" upgrade kits.

I currently already had a "Wave Creator" by Reef Fanatic. I've used it in the past w/ MaxiJets and I think it's a wonderful product but I have never used it with the "sureflow" upgrades so this was kinda experimental.

Well, so far it has worked great. The pumps alternate back and forth with each being on for about 8-10 seconds. Then both pumps are on at the same time for a bit. Then they are both off for a bit and then the cycle starts over.

They've been running this way for about 6 weeks now. My only complaint is that (recently) one of the pumps has developed a "hum". Everytime it turns on (if the TV is off) it is definatley noticable...kinda annoying.

It is a rip-off of glass-holes.com. I did not buy it from them but it is definatley modeled after that.

A buddy of mine (who has some nice toys in his shed) helped me out with that.
