I might as well start a diary for my new 80 gallon SPS Reef. As of now I only have $170 left to spend on equipment and the tank is ready to fill. It's nothing special yet, but I hope it will be

Looks like your off to a good start.
The only thing i would suggest is more flow.
Get your flow to around 40-50X and you should be good.
Also you may want to move some of the rocks around or place them on a egg-crate and PVC platform. This way you wont have crap sitting between the rocks. Make some caves for the fish it swin in and out of.

And take it nice and slow.
This hobby is all about patience.
Nothing good in this hobby happens fast, only bad.

I will have more flow. All together it will be around 60-70X. All I need to add is a Seio 1500. Thanks for the egg-crate suggestion, I will do that

Looks good. Grow it out and in a couple years before you graduate high school you'll have an awesome tank. I wish I started this hobby in middle school. Take your time, you've got plenty of it.

Use the money you have also to get some liverock so you don't have to use all baserock.

i already have about 50 pounds of live but its still in the cooking vat. The second the tank is filled then the live goes in.

No not anymore. I had my 80 set up a few months back and it looked horrible. After my local reef club saw the pics, they started a skimmer fund for me and one LFS took the money and said they will be paying the difference . BTW how does this fish list sound?
