My AC went out, temp probs!

My AC just burnt out. I tried the circut breaker, tested the power line and theres power going to it, no luck. With the AC I have been able to keep my house under 80 during this heat wave and my tank at 83 at the rare peak. Yet with out AC and temps reaching 100+ today and maybe as high tommarow, I am really worried about my tank with no AC.

I have been freezing water bottles to put in my sump, not going to run the lights tommrow and am going to setup a large fan blowing into my tank and sump. Other than that, is there anything else anyone can suggest?

Can anyone suggest a good AC repair in SJ?

I am worried I am going to lose some live stock, any suggestions?

I think so far your doing about the only thing you can(that I know of) You might wanna try going to you LFS. I dont know how close you are with them but see if maby they could help you out by eather caring for some of your delicates or if they would lend you a chiller maby if you left them a deposit. Couldn't hurt to ask..

man that's pretty crazy, leave the lights off and minimize any powerheads that aren't important may also help with the temp. Perhaps all of your circulating pumps beside your return for the time being. I ihaven't had power since 8:30pm and it's almost 5am now. i hope I we get some power power by sunrise.

Yah, kill the powerheads. Use airlifts for in tank circulation. Maybe put your return pump on a timer and just run it on a 50% or 25% duty cycle. Use 2 liter and 1 gallon water bottles for freezing. Smaller ones won't really make a noticeable difference. Big fans.

The guy install AC in my house is pretty good. I don't remember his company name but here is the number ... 279-0722

He also has a reef tank. :)

Thanks Elite, they dont have an opening for a week :(

Well I called a few places, there all booked. In a last ditch effort I gave the AC a swift kick and woohoo it started! I am in the process of calling around to replace the AC unit, its a very old and very loud AC...

Hope it doesnt go out again, ty guys. My tank reached a max of 84 so far, and the only thing that looks bad is the xenia.

Sounds to me like you just have an issue with the compressor. If the temp reaches low enough your compressor will stop and it won't be able to start again. So everytime it stops spinning give it a good whack.

No AC here. The house got to over 100 degrees (F, of course!) I actually have no idea how hot it got because the tehermostat only went to 99.

The tank was at 96 degrees for several hours and it took 2 days of fan and RO/DI ice to bring it back down. Almost all my softies are dead, as well as many SPS frags...
