My Actinic light

So i just picked this up today

It's going to be the new actinic light for the tank. I think i will really make the corals pop. What say the FMAS?

Where did you get it?
Do you have a pic of it with the light off? I would like to see the fixture.

it's a new 400 watt super actinic metal halide.

here's a pic of the bulb.

I'm think I am going to mount it inside of a LA3 reflector.

one of these guys and a 400 10k.

Does it produce the correct spectrum? 420nm or so?

it's 400 and bright
things were luminescent 15' away.

looks more like a blacklight - which always appeared different to me than actinics, but maybe im wrong...

ya doesnt make sense to use 400w when you can buy a vho that covers a larger area for less wattage and heat

So true....Heck 250w MH cost me a nice light bill monthly, I could only imagine what a 400w mh will cost.

ok i'll come clean. It's a 400 watt black light cannon. in pieces. our company sells them and we were taking pics of the bulbs. so we had the ballast and cap laying around, threw them together and shot some pics.

nah you use them if you want a black light effect over a huge area.
