My all custom 20gal Hex Build, 10 months in

None of the tanks and stands produced by most aquarium manufacturers really suited my taste, so last spring I decided to make my own. I like the look and viewing angles of the hexagon tank. This presented some challenges in the building of the stand and canopy. I also wanted a very clean look, with no cords for pumps, heaters, lights or anything else visible in or out of the tank. I have all the light and fan cords going through a pipe in the tank. The return is through a ring in the bottom, buried in the crushed coral bed. Protected by a check valve. Seems to be working so far. Unfortunately there could never be enough flow to keep acros. Currently I am trying to collect zoas and ricordea, which do fine in the lower flow. I simply use a 5 gallon bucket for a sump, with a super quiet and non-heat producing eheim return pump. 150w DE 14k Phoenix bulb and 2x9w PC actinics with 2x2" computer fans to help with heat buildup. Tank never swings more than 3 degrees during the day. Feel free to ask any questions, I hope someone can take an idea or two away from my setup.

I was actually considering making it a seahorse tank. Then I read that it is suggested to only have a pair per 20 gallons and reconsidered.<a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/7546/00010684za.jpg" border="0" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us" /></a>
