so i recently picked up a pair of black ocellaris clowns from a fellow reffer who was breaking down his tank. he got them and had them in his tank for a year and a half. they have been in my tank for about a week now and for the last 3-4 days the larger one has been chassing/nipping and bulling the smaller one non stop. just wondering if its normal but im concerned for the smaller ones health as its constantly being atacked and is probably really stressed out.

the only thing i can think of is that they are both female and one is just more dominant. if thats i the case im gunna have to seperate them.

any insight to what the problem might be?

hist..they were in a 210 tranfered to 45 cube then to my 24 cube..the previous owner said the lil one was always picked on and wound up in his over flow more than a few times.. also they have a big rbta to play in my tank but the big one never lets the smaller one near it

thanks inadvance to everyone that responds.

Id try a new male. Ive had this issue with ocellaris clowns. They seem to be picky when getting a new mate. What i like todo it when in the store make sure and get one thats already showing signs of submission to another tankmate. It helps since he already knows he's not dominant. Or If you want to be mean you can get two juvi's and the the most dominant out of them and the female will pick on the other guy. I've heard this helps in pairing.

You could have a irritating male. :) Or you may just have an overly aggressive female that will never accept a mate too.

so itook my male out and put it in a holding tank for now..the female was relentless and did not let the lil guy have break never ending chasing/nipping/ and cornering. he was so stressed out and breathing really hard so i decide to seperate them before he died. thought it was the best thing.
