I've had many many bad stories about clown fishes. Let's just say I have a curse when it comes to them. I buy fish from my lfs and it's mainly from them. They had a sale of clowns for $10 each. I bought two and put it in my 14 gal bio cube. They did fine for about 1 week then one got ich and quickly died. I tried two QT the other but it was too late. I tried it again with 2 black/white clowns (same lfs for $30 each + 20% off for a sale) this time I put them in my 40 gallon. They did fine for 2-3 days then they got ich, realized my small yellow tang got it also. Talked to the owner of the lfs and he told me that it was most likely from them and that it's because it was probably underneath the Gils of the black/white clowns that I purchased. He gave me "Prazy pro" and told me that it will work quickly and ich should be gone but it will come back and I'd have to treat it again. It went away for 3 days and came back (this time lethal). So I contacted the owner again and told him I got it again, he told me to purchase this orange "para shield" and told me again that it will solve it. It just went downhill from there, I had the two black/white clowns die filled with ich, I tried to QT the other but it was too late. A purple dotty back filled with ich died. My sapphire damsel with ich died. A fire fish with ich died. I QT'd my yellow tsng with copper but he didn't make it. I've posted at my Local reefing Facebook group, they all told me I have to QT and go fish less for 8 weeks to let the ich parasite life cycle die. (Which I'm doing now) I told them what happened and that I used parashield. The lfs owner is also part of the local reefing Facebook group. I visited and he talked to me and told me that he read the post and that it's all bs and that parashield should cure it. Sad to say I was mad because he told me it came from them and yet he can't do anything about it. The lfs are great workers and great people don't get me wrong. Now I'm QT-ing getting ready to put fish in my tank again. So I bought a large clarkii clownfish ( 4 inches) with 2 large white spot damsels and a carpet anemone that they hosted in on Craigslist. I figured maybe it's ok to put them in my main tank ( wrong) they got ich quickly. So I qt'd them and they were fine, the ich that was on them soon died after. A month later I decided to add a 2 inch clarkii at my Lfs (where I bought the other clowns from the past) bought it for $30. And I acclimated it into the QT and added it with the larger clarkii. 1 hr later it I noticed white spots and so I knew it was ich yet again. He didn't last 24 hrs, the new clarkii died. I re homed the 2 large white spotted damsels because they were too aggressive in the QT and were attacking my orange spotted goby. The next day my big clarkii that was doing awesome and was eating a lot and whom was fat, after a month or more in my QT, died. Now, how could've he possibly died? (Other Fishes in my QT are fine: 3 green/blue chromis', a saphire damsel, and a orange spotted goby)
