Very nice... I like :D

Sweet colony you got their i bet they eat alot!!

Thanks! I actually got it by trading a millepora mini colony for this colony. The guy bought it and didn't realize that they were more difficult to keep alive than he thought they were. I used to feed them when I first got the dendros b/c they needed some TLC. The funny part is that it has been over 2 or 3 months since I last target fed them.

I know they say it is tough to tell without dissection, but that sure looks like a sun coral colony to me. Just the way the color patterns are and the shapes of the heads. In addition it seems that most dendro heads are larger than sun coral. I dunno Now I'm just splitting hairs though- either way its a gorgeous colony.

Really, that kind of sucks. I was hoping that they were dendros. They do open some during the day but I will take your word on the ID. Thanks for the help.

Will sun corals open up during the day? These are rarely fed too which is another reason why I was thinking dendros. I did find this information after doing a quick search.

Excerpt: Genus Dendrophyllia - Near impossible to distinguish from Tubastrea w/o microscopic analysis of corallite skeletons.

Those are def sun coral colony. SOme will open during the day. If you start feeding them on a schedule they should open up at the same time in my experiance. Mine would open anytime i would put my hand in the water as if it knew it was going to get fed.

+1 sun coral. +1 feeding schedule. Dendros have heads about three times the size of a sun coral.

For those of you reefers about to "rock"- we salute you ;)

Very nice colony, I had sun corals open all the time, I also have some dendros open most of the time during the day so it's possible.
