My experience treating Brown Jelly with Furan-2

I acquired a BEAUTIFUL scolymia from a local member a couple months back and it is remarkable. Anyhow, about 3 weeks ago I was moving some stuff around and something stung the scolymia or something fell on it. It had a small tissue damage about half the size of a pencil head and I prayed BJ would not rear its ugly head. A day later and it did surface just like I had a feeling it would (since something ALWAYS goes wrong with out favorite corals). I took out the scolymia just in time and blew off the BJ which left it looking really in rough shape.

I then thought of Furan-2 since it is believed BJ is caused by opportunistic bacteria and Furan-2 is a broad based anti-biotic. I used 3 cups of tank water and one packet of furan-2 and left the scolymia in there for 30 minutes.

I did this for 5 days straight with the 30 minute dips and placed the scolymia back into a medium flow environment and it is almost 100 percent although some of the regenerated tissue is a little light but is feeding and is very fleshy. I suspect the zooxanthellae will be full in the renewed tissue within the next two months and the small piece of skeleton on the side should be recovered.

Just wanted to share with you all what I have observed and wanted to put something else out there for other reefers in case they are in a similar situation since I was not able to find much in the past regarding brown jelly.
