i got the rocks from a private local seller..

sma21.. why should add more coral?? yea i was planned to leave for awhile too cuz i can't afford anymore.. im broke

Really, he's warning you that corals do far better in a more established tank. Most people estimate about 3 to 6 months before adding corals, allowing everything to get settled in and macrofauna to grow. But, mushrooms are fairly hardy, so, along as you keep up with your maintenance, you shouldn't have any bad issues.

There's one thing I'm truly concerned with. There is a small thing with long polyps on the right side of the tank, about midway up. I can't see if that is aptasia or not, so you're just going to have to ensure that it's not. If it is aptasia, go pick yourself up a bottle of Joe's Juice from your LFS, take it home, and nuke that sucker before it spreads! However, if it's a coral, enjoy it!

i can't afford anymore.. im broke

That will come out of your mouth more and more since you jumped into the world of salt water.

Your tank looks great!

looks like a great start! Good luck!

PS...Welcome to the wonderful world of being broke, but at least youll have a dope Saltwater tank to look at when your home broke :)

yes, welcome to being broke.

Soon you'll want a bigger tank. You won't be able to afford it, but you will buy it anyways. Enjoy.

I don't think that you have to wait a full 3 months.

It depends how your cycle is going.

Get a test kit to measure the water parameters and hopefully you can put hardy corals/inverts/fish in before 3 months.

yeah, the whole waiting 3 months thing I dont agree with at all. You can stock hardy corals within a few weeks. Just dont stock too fast. Just one specimin at a time, and you'll be fine. (keep it to one a week) Ive only had my tank up for 10 weeks..(not even 3 months) and I have a good ammount of corals already.

Make sure you do water changes very frequently, and test your water. As long as you can keep your Nitrates and Phosphateas down, youll be good! :)

Personally, I can't speak for the no-corals-before-3-months thing. I was just trying to explain a previous post about not putting corals in. It's a rule of thumb, and like you guys said, it's all about the cycle and judging it off of your own tank.

BTW vuanhquoc, you really should really check out your local aquarium societies and reef clubs. I've seen some really nice frags coming out of CA online, so you can probably find some poeple with some really nice stuff. Club meetings can have frag swaps or buys, where you can get some neat swag when it comes to frags for pretty cheap. Or, you could get the online hookup on their forums. Give it a try, you can really luck out if you're nice to people!

also become friends with the LFS manager. i get free frags all the time because they are too small to sell. rosseau wasn't lying welcome to being broke

well guy if u guys didn't know there a whole sell place in Torrance which sell coral really reallly cheap. they selll like 1/3 price in LFS. i can guarantee u that.. but depends on how u talk to the owner.. i being nice to her so she sell me all good stuff for pretty good price.. so what you think what kind of coral i should get for my tank?

and about water change.. my friend told me i dont need to do water change.. because when the water avoparate i just need to fill fresh water in because the salt is already in the tank. is that right? if i do the water change..how do i do it? i never do water change .. please teach!

Depends. You can top off with the fresh water but you will also want to do water changes acccording to your tank parameters.

the water evaporates constantly which is why you do top offs. the evaporated water increases salinity because the salt is left behind so top offs keep your salinity constant. water changes remove nitrates and replace trace elements (assuming you arent dosing). so theres a reason for both and you will need to do both. to do a water change just remove water from your tank and then replace with new salt water.

the whole sale place in torrance you are spekaing of is Jeff's correct? They do have great stuff at there LFS around the area as well. most of my corals all came from Jeff's in Orange CA.
