My Frogspawn is Fragging Itself!

Wow, just looked in my 15g tank a couple of days ago to see my super happy frogspawn (that I have been needing to frag) doing this:

It looks as though it's forming another stony "stalk" to take root under the right side. I had attempted to frag this portion off of the main stalk a few months back, but I didn't have the right bit for my dremel to do it. All I smelled was burning coral and I gave up "torturing" it. I may have prompted it to do this, as I did sever the fleshy part between the two sides.

I'm letting it do what it's gonna do and see what happens. I'll post more pics as it goes.

My frogspawn is budding at the base. There were 3 or 4 of these hidden underneath last time I checked..

Looking good. :D

Nanokat- I was wondering where you purchased your frogspawn from? Most places I go to carry a water downed aquacultured version. Let me know,

Thanks

mine does the same as well. i have 2 or three of them the last time i checked.

Well, if you decide to sell a small piece, please let me know. I would love to get a hold of some. The smaller the better, as I like to watch the growth.

i have a hamer that started 2 buds on a dead branch. it was pretty cool.
euphilia seem pretty tough once they get established.

I don't know if this is considered self fragging since mine use to be one really big one, but over the years slowly pinched at the middle and now become 2 separate pieces, plus it looks like it's forming another, although, this isn't the branching type.

Actually, mine is also doing the "budding" thing too! The funny thing is that I got it for free from a friend about a year and a half ago and it was only about the size of my thumb when fully expanded. I put it into my tank and it's gone wild ever since. I'm not sure if it's an aquacultured version or not, but I may be bringing frags to one of the next meetings if it's going to split. I may even get brave and try to cut some apart myself...we'll see. Each side has 2-3 heads already anyway.

Looks like it's making progress...the "stalk" is getting closer to the sand...

And here's what it looked like when I got it over a year ago...

And a couple of weeks after that...

And the rest is history...can't wait to see what it does next!
