My JBJ 28G LED Reef

I have kept reef aquariums for years. Started off with a standard 55G and kept various corals/fish. I moved a few times and then went with a 30G cube. I have used Metal Halides and CFL's in the past. Heat, Salt Creep, Maintenance almost took me out of the hobby. I ran across this site and saw what amazing All In One tanks people have setup. It renewed my passion for the hobby.

I decided to go with the JBJ 28G Advanced LED tank. I was originally going to go with a skimmer, but the purpose of this tank is to keep everything contained. I decided to go with weekly 7G water changes. I upgraded the power heads, installed an Apex to control everything and I couldn't be happier. I dose ESV Bionic and Magnesium daily. I went mostly with frags except 1 Red Montipora that I just had to have. Everything is growing well.

As you can see things have grown in quite nicely. I had to trim down my monti because its easily outgrowing this tank.

I havent added any corals. I plan to add some frags. I did add a Phosban 150 running BRS GFO, Doser with BRS Alk/Calcium/Mag. An Apex runs keeps everything running smoothly. Still running no skimmer with weekly to bi-weekly water changes.

Gotta love that LED Pro series JBJ. Man it sure makes it alot easier than when me and my dad ran tanks in the seventies.

I like the way you kept your rocks off the back of the tank. This way you can do the 360 degrees viewing. Consider glueing GSP to the back wall w/ frags across the entire back. Turns that black back wall into a living moving entity when it grows in, also isolates it from taking over the tank as it will not cross the sand.

But man that's gonna be a really cool tank in a year. I just helped my son set up his own first tank a couple of months ago for his 10th birthday. Also a JBJ 28 Gal. This makes our households 4th 28 gal JBJ, we love 'em.

Happy reefing
