the 50 gal hex. just got the fish caught and some corals moved lastnight.

It was the wifes "angel" tank, 2 died on her so we put the remaining 3 in another hex and I was given permission to go salt. I was gonna do a FOWLR with a load of gobies but decided to go reef so I could see my my old corals and LR while planning and building the new main display.

Most likely 89 gal. 36 W x 24 D x 24 H Much depends on whether I actually get the free Lexan or not. with 7/16" material I don't want to span over 36" @ 24" H because it WILL deflect over 1/16" in at the midline at 80 deg. F. Then again, I may just setup an old bowfront or freeebie 55 I recently acquired, or both and have lots of separate systems where I can keep a variety of critters and corals. Or, do none at all. It's not a priority for me todauy..

Looks nice except for the reflectoporn you can see. Thats a term that Ebayers use to secretly post nudeity on thier auctions. If you look closely we can see you holding the camera, naked

lol

Last time I saw a hex tank the eel living in it seemed to have trouble seeing his food, possibly from the angles/reflections?

Anyways yours looks nice and you guys are really making me want to upgrade my system or at least it makes a good excuse to do so right?

We can give you all kinds of excuses... I did the hex cuz it was there and I'm not much of a fresh water guy.

SO far I've been using the quality of life excuse for a bigger tank, you know better water quality and more water equals more forgiving etc,
I happen to be a fish person and everything I can control except my nitrates, some of my corals are showing thier dislike.
Bigger tank = more room for fish waste
Plus when I show the Ol'Lady how nice some of the tanks shown on here are it helps.

I'm gonna fab everything but return pump and skimmer. I'm in no rush and looking around for a cheap used Euro. If I can't find a good super cheap (under $100) one I'll just copy Pauls. Thx for the offer, you never know what I'll need for lighting too... Haven't completely made up my mind yet.
