Here is what I plan on having in my 95 gal reef. Feel free to add any ideas, suggestions, or problems you may see.

Fish:
mated pair of true or false Percula Clowns (not sure which yet)
mated pair of yellow watchman gobies with pistol shrimp
mated pair of Randall's goby with Randall's pistol shrimp
4 or 5 blue green chromis
1 Royal Gramma (got)
mated pair of Purple Firefish (I believe I got, I can't tell sexes)
mated pair of Psychedelic Green Mandarin (I have 1 female ordered another 1 I hope I get a male) LOL

Coral:
1 Rose Tip Bubble Anemone (hopefully to host the clowns)
1 Hammer
1 Frog Spawn
a few Rics
a few Acans
a few Scolys
a few favs
a lot of Zoas and Palys

I'd love to hear any feedback good or bad.

Fred i think the shrimp might fight with each other if they get to close. also make sure your rocks are solid on the bottom of the tank not the sand the bottom glass of the tank if not the shrimp will dig out under them and may cause a avalanch and u could end up with a mess or worse broken tank. As far as everything else sounds cool. I would probaly add rose bta first so he settles, then hope and pray he doesnt move. The hammer will get pretty big and could sting stuff also. Make sure you give him plenty of room. Is it going to be a wall hammer or a branching. you can break off peices of the branching easier than the wall. Just a thought. The frogspawn is the same way will sting stuff. Hope this helps. The favs i guess is a favia coral or is it to mean favorite coral? If it is favia they can produce long sweeper tenticals and can attack other corals. They also like to be fed directly give them some of the zooplankton stuff or some cyclopezz (chk spellin) hell any of those corals will like that stuff including the zoos although not needed. well if you have any questions ill be around. talk to ya later.

I also agree that goby/shrimp combos can be a real PITA. I also find that clowns can be hit or miss in a reef tank. Sometimes they will pick a coral to host in a pester it to death. Lastly, chromis are not good schooling fish. They will pair off and whittle each other down over time.

On the up side, your coral selection selection should be easy to handle. I won't personally ever put a zoa or palys in a tank again. They tend to spread and kill out other corals. Zoas are not as bad, but palys will pop up all over your tank and you will NEVER be able to get rid of them once they get a foothold. Whatever you do resist the urge to buy mushrooms (except rics, which are awesome and easy to control) and green star polyps.

I don't want to sound like such a downer. I have wanted all of these things as well I this is what I have learned the hard way.

well I got about 3 1/2" sand bed pushed my rock down about 2" still got atleast 1 1/2" of sand under them I will probably have to change that if I go with the pistol shrimp they are big pieces of rock but could be a problem. I was thinking about the wall hammer I didn't like the look of the branching that I saw. As for favs I was referring to both Favia and Favites I would like to scatter the open sand bed with favs, scolys and acans, leaving a few inches between each one. I planned on just 1 piece of wall hammer, 1 bubble (preferably blue), 1 frog spawn all would be put on the lower tier of rock. The zoas were going to all be kept on the upper tier of rock and a few smaller pieces on the bottom. As for the palys I was just wanting a couple of the purple and green people eaters. Maybe a couple of the black and blue. I have a couple of hitch hikers shrooms now only shrooms I would buy is maybe a striped or rics.

Oh yea it's too late to not add zoas I got my first colony of zoas today. A little piece about 4 x 2" with about 65+ polyps of Dragon Eyes. I'm thinking of my whole top tier of rock being a zoa/paly garden.

yea it's atleast 5-6" from the nearest rock, eventually I may move it ontop of the rock if it can handle that much light.

Got some more Zoos and Paly frags today. I got some beautiful LE Blue Magicians Green PEs and some Cherry Bombs. I should be getting some more tomorrow, more Green PEs and some Candy Apple Greens. I will also be getting my first Aussie Acan Lord Howe next week approximately 35 heads.

Are you ordering from online? If so, where from and would you be interested in someone to share shipping?

Some of the zoos I bought here on RC. Some I won on ebay auctions then added some more from their websites (saltcritters.com, and reefgardener.net). The Acan I won on AquaticAuctions.com. What would you be interested in ordering? I won't be ordering anything else for a week or 2 but I'll let you know from who and what before next order to see if you want to order anything. I didn't really expect to win the Acan auction, but I did to my surprise. Will be my wife's surprise too when it comes in! LOL Dave do you do divorces? LOL

I would even be interested in splitting up an acan colony. I am going almost entirely lps with this tank and I know a lot of other guys are doing the same. We used to do a coral of the month which was awesome. It would be even better with non sps, since we could all keep them alive.

aside from the zoas/paly I don't want any softies or SPS, just LPS. I like the coral a month idea. I like Acan a month even better! LOL. I can't wait to see how my Acan from Aquatic Auctions looks like. They have alot of Acans on there everyday but I heard some bad things about them. Most I've looked at on there are atleast 25-35 heads which could be split up for a few people.

what a beautiful peice of coral you have there my friend. wish i could find a job so i could get back into the hobby. i would share a order with you guys also. hey fred what about some full tank shots now that u have some live stoke in their. talk to you guys later

What kind of skimmer are you running.. Thats a lot of fish in tank along with the anemone, they will create a high bioload.... maybe not at first but all of those things tend to grow quickly so the load will get higher and higher. As for your pistol shrimp, they will definitely fight and in some cases the gobies will as well. Once upon a time i tried to school chromis... some people are successful but i wasnt... i dont wanna even say how many i went through... but i will tell you i only have one now and hes very large. I believe he took out all the rest.

Just noticed one more thing about the mandrians... make sure you have enough pods.... 1 mandrian will decimate pods... 2 will definitely eat em up.. so make sure you have enough unless ur one of the lucky ones that will accept frozen food.

If comment was for me dave thanks. I miss hanging out with yall also. Fred have u had your surgery yet havent seen anything else about it. If so hope you doing well. If not hope everything goes well.

I think I got enough skimmer ASM G2, it's supposedly good for upto 200 gal. Got 100 lbs of sand and 65 lbs of LR right now, macro algae (sawblade) in the fuge and adding 2 red mangroves tomorrow just for kicks. I got them for $2 each. Got 1 Mandarin, t now, and it did do a good job on the pods, they used to be out all over the place even when running 630 watts at midday, I bought more and put in the fuge. He supposedly will eat frozen shrimp but I haven't witnessed it yet. He seems happy don't seem to be starving, but he does work the rocks all day long. The 1 I ordered only lasted 1 1/2 days. No wonder I only paid $9.99 for it.
I may not get an anemone now, with all the zoas I got, I don't want it going around stinging and killing everything. I may just go with hammer and frogspawn and hope the clowns whenI get them will use 1 of them as a home. As for pics I will try but both of our cameras don't take too good of pic. The surgery was resceduled for 9/18/09.
