Hello Again RC Swimmers,

I just purchased some new inverts to add to my tank and was wondering how to go about the acclimation process. This will be my first set of livestock being added to my tank sinced it has cycled. My setup will be Fish and Live Rock only(FOWLR). Here is a list of my tank cleaners:

(1)Emerald Mythrax Crab
(2)Magarita Snails
(1)Fancy Brittle Sea Star

I need help on acclimating my new sea buddies. So far I have them in a 5 gallon bucket with a drip tube siphoned from my cycled 16gal tank. I have a slow drip set up and they have been in the bucket for over 5 hrs now. The water from the aquarium have not filled the bucket completly, and I have poured some of the water out allowing my tank water to replace the old water. What should I do next? Is it safe to add them to the tank? And if so, should I add them one at a time? I have fed the sea star and the crab have seemed to eat the leftover shrimp. My star seems to be missing the end of one of his arms. He seems to move about freely and unharmed. Does the sea star regenerate it's tissue? Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yeah, He will grow his arm back. I just picked up 4 brittle stars from the keys this past weekend. I also got some emerald crabs, snails, ans two sea cucumbers. Brittle stars are really neat when they eat.

Happy Sea Star!

Happy Sea Star!

Sheesh that is comforting to hear. I am glad that he will be growing his arm back. Thanks for the advice.

Starfish, Sea stars and brittle stars all have amazing regenerative properties to them. However, if the spot becomes black, or turns necrotic I'd make sure to take him out of the tank as soon as possible.
