I just got my new Mantis today.... He rode in on some really nice Florida Live Rock at my LFS..... I've been waiting 3 weeks for one and they got 5 mantis' in with the LR. They still have a few there. I paid $9.95 for him and he was the biggest of the bunch at almost 2 inches long. He's definately a smasher and he's hit the side of the betta bowl I brought him home in and he hits it HARD. WOW!! He's set up in a 5.5 gallon tank with 2 chunks of LR and a small 20 gallon tank filter with Bio wheel and small heater....
The good news is he dug his burrow right next to the glass where I can see him perfectly from my couch or chair.... I'll be able to keep tabs on him...... He dug that burrow so fast.
The LFS fed him a piece of dead fish yesterday and he ate the whole thing. I don't think this is going to be a shy mantis by any means.
I took some pretty decent pics.... Can someone please help me ID him and give me a little more info on him..... His color is pink, not brown as the LR he rode in on was pinkish red. This is my first real saltwater creature and I'm exited.... I put a few hermit crabs and a couple Zebra snails in there for him to eat.
If you guys can't view the pics for some reason somebody let me know.
