Well, I havent really been posting updates because I have a couple fish in here now that the Reef Central community in general would say are inappropriate due to the size of the fish tank and I was just trying to avoid controversy.
But suffice it to say, the fish I have are doing well. I've got two canister filters running, both rated for 100 gallon tanks and then two of the 1050 gph Koralia powerheads. So basically, tons of flow and lots of filtration, my one Fluval 405 is completely filled with just ceramic rings. The other one I use carbon/filter floss in.
I'm still enjoying taking pictures of all the fish, some are capable of being quite fast moving so it's proving to be somewhat of a challenge
I actually did lose a fish recently, he started gasping a lot one night and the next morning was dead, all other fish seemed fine. I've had him for about 3 months now, so I'm not really sure what caused that, he was one of the more rock solid fish. I'm getting in a bottle of Prazipro tomorrow and am going to treat the tank, I think I might have flukes. All the classic signs of fluke infestation were present, but just in the one fish, which seems odd. Anyway, I'll treat for flukes just to get it over with in case that is the issue.
I'm scouring craigslist for a good larger tank, all my fish right now are babies and seem perfectly content in a pretty small tank, but I want to move it up to something bigger once they get out of the 2-3" range. For now though, it's pretty cool seeing a lot of small fish swimming around in the tank, I've always liked that. It reminds me more of a freshwater setup than the typical saltwater setup you see.
I went to Hawaii for three weeks in Jan/Feb and the tank did awesome, I was really surprised how well it pulled through. I had a buddy of mine go add top off water every Monday and I had auto feeders feeding pellets 5 times a day in small batches and everything did great.
