My new toy: Underwater camera set up.

So I went back and fourth on a couple different set ups. It came down to the Nikon 7100 and the Canon S100. After seeing some of the HD videos and photos from the relatively new s100 and its compact frame, RAW + JPEG, I decided to go with that one. It was a tough decision, the Nikon has some features that are a tiny bit better but I just feel like every time I go with a different brand, other than canon, I am disappointed. They are both around the same price at about $375 ish.

Canon S100
YS-01 external strobe & LED video/night dive lights
Canon wp-dc43 underwater housing
Blue Ray Tray
Fantasea lens adapter
Fantasea Red filter
Handheld dive light
and a few other goodies like extra batteries

I got the camera last week before everything else and started taking photos. WOW is all I have to say, its unbelievable! I LOVE the design, I read it looks and feels like a stealth bomber and IT DOES. Very light in your hand and the BEST part is that its a compact with almost every function as a DSLR. It also has canons DSLR sensor and lens quality. When in my housing I can add lenses as well. The ring thats in the front turns to focus like a DSLR... actually its better because you can set that ring to command what you want: ISO for example. Lots of AMAZING settings on this thing. Ive used my sisters 40D, 60D, and MarkIII and this thing really does feel just like the high end canons.
I was planning on doing its first wet photos today in the pool but its pouring rain here so may have to wait until the weekend. Here are some above water pics, the macro is UNBELIEVABLE. I did NO post production to these, no photoshop or aperture, wanted to post straight from the camera.

The FIRST pic was my iPhone and the rest were without the strobe. Im still figuring out how to get the strobe to work for what I want from my shots. Im pretty excited about St. Croix pictures, especially the night dive at the Fredriksted pier. This set up should get me some awesome shots... now I just have to learn it all lol.

Nice setup! Can't wait to see some underwater shots! I have a basic housing rated for 100 ft for my 5MP digital point and shoot. It gets decent shots but probably nothing close to what you'll get!

^^ Got any tips????? :D Ive been reading like a crazy person and seems like ISO 80-200 is popular and Fstop of about 2ish for UW shots. Im gonna have to do a BUNCH of playing with the settings to learn what works and what doesn't. Its all a bit overwhelming actually lol.

ISO 50 and F 8 will usually get a descent exposure, get as close as possible, shoot upwards when possible, take a lot of pics to get one good one :)
