My new Toys!

I kept talking about buying new lights and it was going to cost like $300 to get the ones I wanted and a buddy of mine surprised me a couple of weeks ago. Well he GAVE me a set of 2x250w MH retro kit. Well I still had some money cause I was going to buy the T5HO kit so I did some research, bought these new babies! Suppose to be 20% more reflectivity then the lumenarcs. It took me about an hour to wire them up properly. The reflectors I got are the Lumen Bright disco Balls! or thats what I call them. They are 14.5x14.5x8, little monsters! They are perfect what I am I wanting to do without wasted light. The T5HO's were either too short or too long for what Im trying to do. The Lumen Bright reflectors are perfect.

alright, what's the differance in those bulbs vs. HQI?

I was lookin' at these 2 setups on reefgeek...

150w HQI

OR

175w

The 175w setup is $20 cheaper.

Im going to fire them as soon as I get something made to hang them from. I couldnt build it until I got them. UPS dropped em off today. Took me an hour to properly wire them up to my ballast. It came with new mogul sockets and wiring with no ends, but I went ahead and modded the new sockets to work with the old cords so there were no splicing n dicing.

but yeah, Ive fired em up in the dining room, and they are 10 times brighter then the spider reflectors that came with the retro kit.

I would have preferred the DE HQI but thats not what the FREE retro kit was, it was SE. Ive got a wholesale hookup and picked up both of those reflectors for $160.
