My poor little make-shift hood

Hey all...

Just wanted to share my findings with my "hood" and new T5s.

Ultimately, I thought I was going to use PVC to suspend the lights over the tank... after spending literally 10 hours, I happened to find out that the endcaps fell perfectly into the lip on my glass-cages tank.

Soooo... I went and got some more 1x2s and made a very make shift hood.

Here are some pics:

I have to say that using black plumbing made a HUGE difference in the aesthetics of my tank. Plus only having a 3" overflow and rearranging the rocks for corals helped, too.

Just thought I'd share. I'm really glad that the wood worked out... the PVC contraption I came up with was going to look HORRIBLE. This is MUCH more low profile at least. I'm actually considering putting this in the hood so I can lower and raise my lights accordingly, but we'll see.

Also, sorry the pics are so white... my cell phone just can't handle the T5HOs.

Oh... almost forgot... thats only with 2 bulbs... the other two aren't running because my ballast died (but reefgeek sent a new one that should be here Saturday ).

Also, I love how close the bulbs are to the water in this setup... especially considering Brian's findings recently. They're only about 1" off of the water!

Nope, Steve! But I wish I knew what did! He's a purple monster now! Not much orange! Drives me crazy... but oh well! What to do.

The tank is looking great Brandon!!! IF I setup another tank, I'll be looking into T-5's as well.....For now, I'll stick with my MH's....

oh, about the CB....I thought the orange was just not showin' up in the pics. Hmmm....that's strange. Looks pretty cool though.
