My purple anemone....

Well something happened yesterday with my purple anemone. I came home to find it stuck in my Seio pump. I had no idea this could happen. I'm shocked and pretty sad to have lost such a beautiful specimen. It was thriving in my tank, so I'm somewhat devastated. It took me about 15 minutes to remove it piece by piece from the pump.

My question to you guys is how in the world to they sell these pumps that could actually do this to our reef inhabitants ?
Is there a way to prevent this from happening again?

Put spunge filters over the in take on all pumps. Haveing a anemone is like a small child you have to baby proof the tank. Sorry to hear about your loss!
