My Quarantine Tank

Well......I have my Quiet One 3000 pump hooked to a dual UV/heater tower from Rainbow Lifegard...which is hard plumbed into a pvc return to the tank. Sounds simple enough right...?

Except that the heater unit leaked after I had it set up...not once; not twice but THREE TIMES ! ! ! I used vaseline on the rubber O-ring....then hooked it up (leaked the second time)...then I used plumbers tape on the threads.....nice and thick...(it leaked the third time)....then I just said the heck with the heater tower and I used an air compressor to blow the water out of the threads... and then I cleaned it with PVC cleaner and then gooped on the the PVC cement and said the #$^%^&#%@$$ with it and now its running splendidly ! ! !

But can I get everyone in unison to say:

AAAAAAAAAAAAHJHGHGGHGHHHHHHHHHGGGGGGGGGGGG ! ! !

I've used a BUNCH of those with no leaks. Was the nut hard to turn? Grit in the threads? Wrong O ring?

Sorry for your troubles. Hope you never have to open it:)

I finally got it to work but oh the insanity of getting the leak to stop. Its been running all night and I hope its still dry when I go out to look at it this morning.

So I checked it out and I didn't see any water flowing through the UV unit....and I freaked ! I thought UH OH Batman...I don't see any air bubbles gurgling around the top of the clear UV lid...so I quickly turned off the UV unit thinking it would burn out.

I stuck my hand under the return outlet in the QT tank and there was water coming out....! So I guess the air just worked its way out...Cool !
