My yellow tang looks really pale.

I am kind of new to the fish tank I have, Ive had it for almost a week.I got it from a friend with a yellow tang and a cleaner shrimp but the yellow tang isn't looking so good quite pale and I don't know what to do I finally got it to eat which is relieving.

It's also quite paranoid, or shy, from what I've seen and it wouldn't eat at all for about three days you can't tell that well in the picture but the tang has a even paler line behind its eye that wasn't there before at my friends house.

Start with excellent diet and water quality and see if there's improvement.

What size tank is it in? It could be stress related if it's being kept in an undersized tank.

What are you feeding it?

I'm feeding it green marine algae with natural garlic extract it's the only thing it willeat right now and the tank is a 55 gallon. At the other house it was doing fine

I had the same issue with my yellow tang. It happened when I tried ROX 0.8 carbon. It only took a day or two for me to notice the tang losing its color. I removed the carbon and a few weeks later his color was back to normal.
