mystery wrasse mystery

I have a 5 line mystery wrasse in a 90g mixed reef. He has been in there for about 4-5 months and is fat and healthy. The tank is lightly stocked, with 2 occelaris, 1 PJ cardinal, and 3 chromis as tankmates. I have never seen anyone picking on him.

About a month ago, the mystery wrasse took to hiding all day and all night. I only see him come out if I feed frozen cubes. He eats, and is back in hiding before the food is even gone.

I've heard that mystery wrasses can be cryptic. Is this normal behavior, or should I be concerned?

If it's over a month I'd be worried.

The longest time I've seen mine gone for was a week.
I look around my tank for him, outside too.

He comes out every day to feed, but then immediately hides again. The wierd thing is, he really didn't hide at all (during the day) for the first 3 or 4 months I had him. It's only recently that he's taken to hiding unless there is something mysis like in the water.

I know they are prone to hide when scared, but mine didn't hide at all at first, and now he always hides.

Something must be scaring him, someone pounding on the glass?

Give him some more time to get used to.
He's a pretty aggressive wrasse so I wouldn't advise to add any other ones in just yet.

I wouldn't think so either. Plus, he's gotta be twice the size. He's gotten to the point that I have to feed and walk away or he won't come out to eat. He's definitely become scared of me. Just my wife and I in the house, so no little ones to pound on the glass and scare him.

Oh well.. as long as he is healthy I'm not going to worry about it.

Thanks for the input, all
