Mystery Wrasse

i bought a 2" mystery wrasse a couple days ago and i was wondering if anyone knew how fast these guys grow?

I would say as as fast as any other fish given the right conditions.

- Good size tank
- Good diet; mixture of well nutritioned foods
- Good water

Lots of different variables one would imagine.

very good answer. mine grew pretty quickly and i have noticed over time that the more i feed any fish the faster they grow. so just keep this all in mind.

It's a pretty fast growing fish, but they don't get over 4-5 inches long anyways.

yea i knew they grew to only about 4 inches but just wasnt sure about growth rate, but now i do. Thanks for the help

How are they as far as aggressiveness toward other fish such as clowns, dwarf angels and other small wrasses?

They are potentially problematical for fairy and flasher wrasses. Clowns and dwarf angels should be ignored.

what about smaller fish like a pygmy hawk or fire fish?

Mines been perfect.Hasnt shown any agression,Ive had him a year.Hes about 4". I dont have any fish smaller than him,so maybe thats why theres no aggression.By far my favorite fish.

I have a juvenile mystery wrasse now that seems to have grown a little since I got him and I think he is relatively peacefull. But I did have a mccosker fairy wrasse that I got at the same time that disappeared and my larger blue spot jawfish I got a week ago died last night. I dont know if he was the culprit or not but he eats as much as the sailfin tank does in my tank

They will be aggressive towards other mystery's and various striped wrasses. Mine has never shown aggression toward any of my other fish including a solar wrasse and a melanarus wrasse. The only time I've ever seen it be aggressive is toward the mirror I put on the side of my tank to keep my Achilles tang occupied while I added a new Yellow Tang. The Mystery Wrasse will not leave the mirror alone which tells me that it would definitely go after another Mystery.

My mystery wrasse is about 4" and pays no attention to my pair of long fin fairy wrasses which are about 2.5" right now. He leaves all the other fish alone too. Pair of 1" sharknose gobies, pair of clowns, yellow watchman goby, and a pair of mandarins. He did eat all but one of my shrimp however. 1 fire shrimp, and 2 peppermint shrimps. Doesn't go near my pistol shrimp for some reason. :lol:
