Hey, i have owned this coral for about a year, but just now added it to my tank. (It has been held by a friend before this point.) I got it at the IMAC in Chicago, and the name has slipped my mind. I'm thinking its either an acan or favia, but not sure and would like to know for reference.

Thanks!

Looks Acanthastrea-ish to me, but it's too bad our club's LPS expert has been banned from posting...

He'd know for sure.

Thanks, Im keeping it till it grows some, it is being split for ted, the friend who kept it, and then ill be free to frag some of my share. Any tidbits of advice from acan owners would be appreciated, though i have heard acan lords are very hardy.
Thanks
Ben

My tip: Feed it and it will grow....:D
Low-to med current, low to med light, I keep mine half way under an overhang unless your using PC, or VHO. Halide and T5 users may need to be cautious where placing. Depends on the kind of acan too some acans can be found deep in the wild or be a more light tolerable specie. Think the lords are 30+ft deep though durring wild collections.

Wow!Nice,Gresham even identified it down to his socially designated name within the specie community!:eek1:

/me humbly gives up first dibs of fraggen rights..Long live lord chuck! hheheh :D

Thanks Gresham, though i couldnt find any info on the chuck name.
Justin, i will remember to get you a frag asap, i just want it healthy again. It was the one coral to have a bag failure on the flight from Chicago, and spend a length of time out of the water. Since then, it have been in a tank, having no growth and getting beaten up by a leather. Now in my tank it has finally perked up, opened and has tentacles out. Now i just need some food. Anyone going to have some at the May meeting?
Thanks
Ben

Dont even sweat it fishstix it was just another cheezy joke I made, Id much rather see it healthy in your tank than fragged up in mine too :)
Cheers for being a good sport though ;)

fish- yes, it is an acan. lord. you should probably move it away from the halide, though. lords tend to not really care for direct halide lighting. also, make sure that you don't have any laminar flow directly at the colony. with any luck, he should be just fine in a month or two. check out this colony from a guy here on rc...had lighting issues and really ****ed off his colony. gl.
