Nano Angler Reef?

Does anyone have an angler nano reef? I just bought a 24g nano for cheap and I was thinking of doing an angler nano cube.

I just put a bunch of zoos and a small frogspawn in the nano, now I’m ready for my anglers.

Could I get a small White Collar Angler (Antennarius sp.) and one of equal size Black Angler (Antennarius commersoni)? Or just two white and two black?

I've kept and still keep several anglers in nanos. Never more than one per tank. There's a reason why you hardly ever see it done, espeally long-term. Not only do species differ in temperment but so do individuals of the same species coupled with the fact that any angler can easily ingest prey twice its own size.

Also, don't expect to be able to identify small anglers by color alone or at all for that matter. A small black angler could easily be a pictus, maculatus, commersons...

I'd say stick with one and learn the ropes first. Check out the "Frogfish Files" thread for more info and you'll see just how difficult they can be.

Yeah, I just found the frogfish files and will see what they say. But yeah, I think I am just going to go with one cool color one. Maybe a white or black, or some crazy color.

I'm putting a nano angler tank together. display is 40g, sump is 45g, with a tunze skimmer and an aquac urchin pro skimmer. I'm planning on keeping a pair of A. Tuberosis or one maculatus. THese guys dirty the water a lot, which is why I'm running dual skimmers, a phosphate reactor, a filter with carbon, and a sump that has more water volume (and a huge fuge to boot) than the display.

I'm hoping my setup will be enough for one or two frogfish... so your 24g may be a bit small =/

Stick with one Angler. They are very competitive with food. They will eventually go for the same fish and one will win, and one will get injured.

A friend at work has an angler in a 24G nano, along with a cuttlefish. They constantly ran into eachother chasing the same fish/shrimp regardless of how many you put in there.

Aside from feeding time, they are quite boring fish to keep IMO :D

cuttlefish in a 24g nano? I'm guessing a Sepia Bandensis if anything. If they ink and the angler eats, that's some nasty water conditions.

I'm the kind of person who likes to give the inhabitants of my tank the best water conditions possible. But that's just me I guess.

Yeah.. I didnt say I agreed with his choice of inhabitants... but I cant say its not fun to watch the cuttle.
