I have about 200lbs dry base rock ($2lb) and 100lbs live rock in my sump ($3lb) with a nice selection of sizes to choose from. All looks like Fiji/Marco, no Tonga Branch or Marshall Island.
Dollar for dollar, fresh water tanks can look nice, but nothing compares to the visual impact of saltwater, thus the addiction to the $$$pretty$$$ stuff
Did you ever get a 120gallon? you were looking about the same time I was for a tank of that size. Its funny because I never got to set up my 125. It was bought for an upgrade to my 75. Then the drama happened with my houses last year. I now have the 125 and a 150 sitting in storage. I too have a small 29 up and running now. I hope the snow will melt off enough this next week so I can get the big tanks in.
I may be in the market for some base rock also. about 50lbs. Denver is about an hour drive for me. I have an Elizabethtown address but closer to hummelstown.
I love clown gobies, but if you plan to keep Acros down the line, they may nip them, so be forewarned. If you are going to have a top on the tank, you could add a flasher wrasse. Some of the ORA captive bred dottybacks that originated from the Red Sea can be peaceful and remain small -- they also would be a different color than any of the flasher wrasses, which would help keep the peace. I love my ORA yellow assessor. All of these fish max out at 3.5" or under.
yeah i bought a 120 and had it running with salt for about a year. Switched it out for a native game tank and love it. Found a great deal on a 29g nano cube so will be back in the saltwater side again.
daughter wants a goby/pistol shrimp combo. The hqi lighting is blinding on that little tank. I'll probably end up just getting some bangaii and some soft corals in there too.
