Nano Cube QT

Just wondering if anyone is using a nano cube as a quarantine tank? Because they have a built in filter and are small they seem like an ideal choice. Also when there is no fish inside how do you keep the filter from crashing?

Are you talking about the all-in-one kits? I would think they would work fine. I use a plain old 10g. If you want to keep the bateria fed, you can place a small amount of food in the tank every now and then. I personally break my QT down when not in use and run a bio bag in my display fuge for the next time I need it.

Thanks for the help kfowler and yes I mean an all in one tank. I would think the filter would be good enough for small fish temporaliy and the lights are good enought to QT some inverts.

got an 8 gal nano qt tank w/2 clowns in it right now. we have a couple small pieces of lr for some good bacteria, and use other media to keep the parameters in check if need be.

i think we'll keep using it once we get all of our fish we want. we're not planning to use copper in it, so i think we could have a little fun with it when it's not a qt.

With smaller tanks, you have to be more careful with water quality. I have heard of people having problems with even a 10 gallon QT after a couple weeks. Another thing that can help is to clean out the waste with a turkey baster shortly after feeding the fish--keeps the water from getting dirty in the first place.

I think in the long run it would be a pricey QT tank. Also any larger fish like tangs and angels would be too small to use.

For qt I have a 10 gallon aga and ahve managed to canibalize my old freshwater tank mixed with some cheapo powerheads from walmart. Being that I do not keep my qt tank up and running all the time I see no point in spending any more than I need.

I use a 24G Nano cube for my QT tank and it works great! A decent amount of room and the built in filter is awesome. It also doesnt take up much room...
