Nano Cube W/ Sump?

Has anyone ever added a separate sump to there Nano cube? Is it a easy upgrade worth the hassle. And how would you do this? Could this be a good spot to add a good skimmer?

my friend did it with his 24 gal aquapod for about 2 weeks b4 he decided to get a differnt tank... all he did was buy a hob overflow box that fit in the back compartment and did it the same way as u would on anyother tank
