I have 2 pearly jawfish on order for this JBJ 30 RL nano and would like some opinions on what else might cohabitate with them. As far as corals go, I don't plan on dosing, so it will be just softies and such.

yasha hase goby with a pistol shrimp is always cool, also maybe a blue assessor, firefish, clown gobies and maybe a nice fairy wrasse.

This is always a toughy! LOL All small gobies you could fit quite a few. If you like to feed a lot not that many, if you have an awesome CUC raises the number of fish. Water changes done once a week raises the number, not so many water changes lowers the number. Add the fish you like slowly and keep good tabs on the parameters.

Nice textbook answer! Way to play it safe. :D

I'm looking at the 2 jawfish, an Occelaris that came out of the old nano and possibly some firefish. The last occupants would have to be something that wouldn't make the jawfish hide or skittish. Then there is the matter of the CUC, which shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

Check out a pair of circus gobies, they can be a little cryptic but would be a lot of fun to watch in a smaller tank.

Interesting. I checked them out, not bad. I'm thinking that they might be competition for the Pearly Jawfish pair.

I made a compulsive buy yesterday and added a Catalina Goby. I'm kicking myself because I know better. Come to find out that it's a subtropical species from the Cali coast that doesn't like it warmer than 75. We'll see how it does.

The Catalina Goby seems to be hanging in there. It has a voracious appetite and can scarf down three times what the clown does. Today I picked up the Pearly Jawfishes (thanks Fb) and I'm currently acclimating them.

I'm thinking that other than the CUC, these 4 fish are going to be the only inhabitants in here. I might put a Cleaner Shrimp, but I really want to keep the bio load to a minimum.
