Nashville Aquarium
*A sincere thank you to the Nashville Zoo for all their support and the Tennessee Aquarium for helping us rescue and transport our animals to safety. Another thank you to all of our fans and guests for the love and encouragement.
Nashville Aquarium Restaurant is pleased to report that its beloved Guitar Fish Gibson survived the major Nashville floods and is currently being treated by marine biologists at the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga. All other fish and reptiles that survived the flood were relocated to the Tennessee Zoo. Gibson shares his temporary home with several brown-banded bamboo sharks, a blue tang and a squirrelfish. He is able to swim up to the side of the tank and can recognize Aquarium staff members who come to visit. Gibson has been served gourmet meals since arriving in Chattanooga. He has been feasting upon whole squid stuffed with one whole shrimp and two whole lake smelt. Gibson enjoys four of these seafood-stuffed squid at each feeding. This diet closely mirrors the diet that he was receiving at home in the Nashville Aquarium Restaurant. Tennessee Aquarium chefs prepare this haute cuisine five days a week for him. "We appreciate the tremendous support from the community during this unfortunate time," said James Prappas, Director of Biology Nashville Aquarium Restaurant. "œWe know Gibson and the other fish and reptiles are in good care and we look forward to their return home at the Nashville Aquarium Restaurant."
*And also 100s of our surviving fish & reptiles are being taken care of at the Nashville Zoo. Although we can't list them all, here's a significantly large list: All fish in the Tunnel exhibit survived, all of our reptiles survived (dart frogs, tarantulas, knight anole, tree boas ,uromastyx, rococo toads), 40 species of Coral Reef fish, Hawaiian & Fiji exotic fish, archerfish, tetras, blind cave tetras, seahorses, piranha, various wrasse, squirrelfish, angelfish, batfish, foxface, regal blue tangs, clownfish ,yellow tangs, reticulated rays, southern stingrays, nurse sharks, our 250lb Grouper & guitarfish, Gibson. Thanks to everyone for the well wishes and support!
