Need advice on Raibow Birdsnest

I have a small colony of Rainbow Birdsnest. It is growing great, but it has gotten dense in the top and I noticed the base is now completely white and not encrusting. My fear is as it continues to get top heavy without the base encrusting, it will break away from where it is mounted. Should I go ahead and frag it so that the base can get more light? Maybe even just frag it and start over with one of the frags? Here is a photo, although it is crappy, you can see the base. I should also note that in the photo, I have turned it 90 degrees CCW to allow more light to the base, but I believe it may be too late.

In my experience birdsnest are not great encrusters and they usually lose polyps and flesh at the base when colonies get big and shadow it. I put epoxy around the attachment point to secure it.Make sure you have good flow to the bottom of the colony or it can become sickly. If you frag, as it grows it will just repeat it again IME.
