Need Fan Recommendations

Although I can't recommend a specific fan, I can recommend the store to buy from.

I've always purchased my fans and other PC cooling accessories from SVC (located in San Jose). Their pricing is competitive and selection is better than anywhere else I have looked.

Check here: http://www.svc.com/silent-fans.html

This sounds too good to be true. 62 cfm @ 16 db. But at $7 each, I'd buy 4 just to try them out! http://www.svc.com/a2329.html

Mark, I checked that sight out and the fan you posted. I'm going to go with that one. Thanks for the help.

finally made the order. have 6 of those fans, a couple of another type, and two four stage varialble speed controllers. thanks again for the website - great prices!

Great link , thanks Mark. I wonder if anyone has tryed a liquid pc cooler in a sump? Just thinkin out loud hmmmmm.

Dude: KMP: In my quest to prepare for my hunt and/or clean up my garage I found a kickazz 110v fan. It's like a large computer fan, but runs on house current instead of 12v. Lemme know if you wanna tinker w/it.

fans and controller are in.

did a quick, hook up. actually the 70mm fans (36db) seems to be quiter than the 120mm fans (16db). the 120 has a little hum at full speed, back it off a little and hum goes away. that said, i'm being particular. both fans were quiet.

still sorting out the fans.

seems as though the 120's might be hit and miss. i ordered 6 and have pulled 5 out and hooked them up. two have a hum to them which kicks the 16db out the door. those will be headed back to be replaced. the others are as expected - very quiet.

would i buy these again. after running the mh's all night, i checked this morning and the only heat to be felt under the canopy is directly under the mh light itself. that's w/2 fans blowing in. huge difference from a few days back where the mh was on for a few hours and it was not only hot, the inside of the canopy (wood) itself was warm to the touch.

only problem, wish the were from a local store so i could walk in and exchange.

one other note: the hum comes from when the fans are running full blast. i have them hooked up to a variable speed controller. turn them down a little and the hum goes away.

whether you chose those fans or others - i'd highly recommend SVC. they were shipped and at my door two days after ordering. great prices and a HUGE selection.
