I just got a coral from an lfs that had it on hold for me. Three days ago the coral looked fine in one of their display tanks, when I picked it up today it looked horrinle. Any chance of survival? What can I do to help it.

It doesn't look too good to me, but whatever happens, DON'T THROW IT AWAY!! My fungia died off completely, but then a little while later, little babies started sprouting! I now have a dozen or so coin sized fungias growing off the skeleton of the old one.

Dont throw out the fungia no matter how bad it looks.... these guys can come back even when flesh seems gone. I have brought some back from the dead... at that point the LFS will give you them. Try moving to a low light area. If any polyp extension at night target feed.

I just left the skeleton (it was looking COMPLETELY dead) on the sandbed. Probably took a few weeks to get to the point where you could really see that there were babies forming. Algae is a bit of a problem. I think that has impeded the number of them that have developed. I've tried to gently clean the skeletal spots from time to time.
Oh, my lighting is only 192watts of PC tubes.

The fungia is healing well. I will post pics as soon as my lights come on.
