NEED HELP.. baby Clowns

I have tons of baby clown fish (well, at least I think they are clowns. That is the only fish that I have 2 of) in my sump, Phosban reactor, swimming in the bottom of my skimmer.

There must be over 100 babies. The ones in the phosban reactor are the biggest. I will have to shut it down and put them in my fuge. How they all made it through the impellors of my pumps is a mystery.

Is there some way to net them and contain them in the display? I have used one of those baby fish things made from plastic and netting in the past (with baby Chiclids) and the babies get stuck between the netting and the plastic frame and die.

Any suggestions?

Are you sure they're not mysid shrimp?

If they are fish larvae then you will not be able to rear them unless you have a ready supply of live rotifers.

I'd let this one go and watch your clowns over the next few weeks,,, see if they're laying somewhere.

The only thing I can think of is this...they hang out near my returns from the sump. These are near my overflows. They must have laid eggs on the back side of the PVC pipe return and when they hatched, they got sucked right into the overflow.

Any advice on how to prepare a home in advance of another hatching would be great! Where do I get Rotifers? They wil not eat Cyclop Eze?

I am new to baby clowns but have done baby Chiclids in the past. They are easy. The sustain themselves very well.

Any help would be mush appreciated.

thanks all!!

Clown fish larvae are far too weak a swimmer for the first week to not be suckced into some kind of mechanical filtration that would meet with their untimely death. Also any that hang around too long get eaten by the parents.
A more likely candidate would be mysid shrimp, that's the kind of area they like to hang out in.

Upon further study, they do look likea copepod...but htese are really, really big copepods!

Glad I have them....but sad that they are not baby fish... :(

Ohh well, I have over 200 baby Chiclids I care for right now...More babies is the last thing I need! :)
