Need help - crack in silicone

Hello all,

I found a crack in the silicone on the upper portion of my 65 gallon reef ready. I'm in the process of setting it up, so it's not too big a deal, and the crack is minor

(in case the img doesnt show, it's in my gallery)

The crack seems minor. My question is 2 fold -

1) Is this something that super glue can fix or should I patch it with silicone (I don't want to take the tank back since it is minor.

2) Where do I get the tank silicone (how long to let it cure)

Thanks
Jerry

Its really difficult to tell from the picture. I can't tell if I am looking at the seam itself or at the bead inside. If the latter is the case, it probably isn't structural. Even though its probably minor, I don't think one should EVER have to repair a new tank. I would take it back and have it switched for a new one.

How it's setup, I just don't want to have to take it down, return , wait several weeks for the return to get processed and a new one sent. It's a simple tear in the silicone, nothing else. I was just wondering if anyone else has had to deal with this and what they did. I know super glue will bond the overflow back to the glass, and with enough, make it watertight. But is it preferred to just re-silicone it?

Oh yeah, I should mention, that I don't even think returning it's an option since I've probably had it close to a month or slightly over while I built the sump and ordered the pump, skimmer, lights, etc. It wasn't until today when I started to add water that I even noticed the crack.

If its just the bead on the inside corner of the tank, your best bet would be to cut it out and re-silicone it. Make sure when you cut it out you do not get a razor into the actual seam which could weaken it.

If there is some silicon missing just cover it with new silicon . Make sure it isd aqiuarium safe and does not contain mildecides.

If there is a crack in the glass try first realy hard to get a new tank. If you cant do that we silicon another piece of glass over the cracked area.

Good luck

It's the overflow - where it comes into contact with the side of the tank (not the tank itself) - I cut it out this morning and re-siliconed it.

Thanks all
