Need Help on Flow

I have a 450 and it is 8x2x3 and the issue is I have 1 inch walls, most items on the marker will work up to 3/4 think walls so what should i do and how much flow do I need? Anyone with a large tank can help.

Your talking the magnetic power heads right? Can you just make or glue on a small shelf inside your tank to hold them? Or a U shape bracket hanging over the side of the tank.

Tunze 6205s would be an excellent choice, IMO. They hold to .98", so Id imagine it'd be fine. I had the earlier model magnets on my .75" acrylic tank, and they stuck INCREDIBLY well, youd pinch your fingers if they were in the way. The flow is also nice at 5,811 GPH a piece. If going SPS, it may take 4 of em, though.

Vortechs only go to 3/4 tried it.

Do SPS need 20,000 GPH in a 450?

What about hydro 8's
I have 2 in there now and it seems to get about everywhere, hard to point them at eachother without creating a huge water force in the middle of the tank.

I am using a blueline 100 which does about 1,900gph before the 6 ft up haul to from the stand to the overflows.

Any advise?

I'm not familiar with the Hydro 8's, but can you offset them - put one on the right side front of the tank, and the second on the left side rear?

I did that with a pair of Vortechs in our 350G, and it creates a fantastic clockwise flow... like a race track!

Do you think a need to add maybe 1 or 2 smaller ones and put them behind the rocks by the bottom? The only place i can put it is on the overflows as the acrylic is 1 inch thick

I want to have softies and sps in the tank. Now the return pump is giving 1,400 GPH after the uphill climb and each one of the 8's are doing about 3000GPH that gives me 7,400 with a turn rate of 16

Vortechs

I don't think they'll stick on 1". Furthermore, if you plan to go with them, buy an extra because you WILL end up sending one or more back.

I second Jflip2002's recommendation. I would go with 6205's. You won't be disappointed.
