went to the local fish store been watching this cardinal fish in their small display tank for 3 weeks the fish looked great. then i got it home and put in my tank i notice that his eyes looked like it had a film on them. the next morning the right eye seemed swollen and white looking film. what is this? what should i do?

Swollen like popeye?
The film could be flukes?
Anything else going on with this fish? Any signs of illness? Emaciation? Bloating?

no nothing else is wrong . what kind of medicine should i use for this? and should i put him in a quarintine tank to do this?

Any fish behaving aggressively toward it? Could be an injury and occasionally, it might be worth leaving it be if that is the case and just watch it and the dynamics in the tank.

If it is popeye, maracyn, some prefer maracyn 2, melafix...

Flukes, you can try a freshwater dip and some suggest prazipro.

This will help give you an idea what a fluke is.

Really, the ones I have seen are almost clear. I am surprised with my eyesight I would have noticed them at all. It is almost like looking at a bump on your fish that moves!

Given the type of fish we are discussing, a freshwater bath might not be a bad idea to see if the problem (at least with the film) clears up. Get yourself some RO/DI water, something to buffer the pH, and make sure the temperature either matches your tank or is slightly warmer. The fish should be able to handle the treatment for a few minutes.
