My maxima clam I had had over a year died. He has not been opening as well recently. I moved him a few times to see if a change in lighting would help. He seemed to prefer neither sand nor rock. I also changed the water flow, checked for snails, etc.
I checked my parameters tonight:
temp 80
sg 1.025
nitrates 0
nitrites 0
ammonia 0
ph 7.8
calcium 440
alk 1.14
I use Oceanic salt and it really keeps the calcium up without any additives. I have dosed with baked baking soda before, but forgot how much to use. I mixed it with water and dripped it into my sump with a homemade doser with a finger controller to control rate. I have a total of 45 gallons circulating. Can anyone tell me how much baking soda and how much water and how much to drip an hour. I drip this overnight and usually my alk is up in the am to an acceptable level without dropping my calcium too much. Thanks so much.
