So my LFS had ehat appears to be a tongue coral dieing in one of their tanks. I talked them into letting my attempt to save him for free. What should my next steps be? I realize he may be too far gone but I gotta try.
I wonder if a tounge coral skeleton is capable of producing baby polyps the way short tentacle plate corals sometimes do? Maybe you should keep the skeleton for a while even if the current tissue melts away and see what happens. Good luck with it.

Rawby:
Sounds like you have a plan. I would look into the "best" position for it. Out in the open or in the shade? There are some threads here showing comebacks of "dead" short tentacled plates. Maybe someone who has actually done this will jump in. But since the coral is photosynthetic, I would guess having the right light level is critical for success. Hoping you have a comeback.
