need help starting a biotope

i have been trying to work out all of the kinks of my system ,,nothing to bad as i have been reefing for a good long while now,,but learning still. i think i want to try to switch my tank from a "mixed reef" to more of a "biotope" set-up . from what i have read this might help with things like coral warfare and fish/inverts going missing in the middle of the night my prized corals (hammer)(giant toadstool) and some of my fav fish are all from the "indo pacifiac" area BUT THATS A HUGE AREA! there must be a way to narrow it down to a certain reef or ocean/sea,right?

I have a softies tank dominated by zoanthids and an LPS tank primarily populated with Euphyllia but they're far from biotopes. It's more of an attempt to avoid interspecies aggression by stocking corals that would share the same environment in the wild. Closest I've come is a Caribbean tank with rock/flower anemones and a Caribbean mantis shrimp. But then I needed a place for my Duncan coral and need overcame purity .

You need to find pictures of a specific area of the reef with corals and fish you can replicate in your tank. If it's a reef front or a back lagoon stock the corals that would normally share that environment and provide the proper flow/light for your chosen biotope.

However that's no guarantee you'll reduce coral aggression. Fighting for space is one of the basic tenets of the reef.
