Hello,

I recently purchased a green carpet anemone and overnight it must have died. now all my fish are on thier side and 2 emerald crabs died and turned white. Is this due to the carpet? When I took it out this moring it stunk. Did this put toxins in my tank? This is what I am thinking. WHat should I do???

Water changes over 50% if you can. LIke Criccio said run carbon. If the anemone melted apart then get a net and scoop out as much as possible. If you have another tank you may want to put your fish in a qt area in there until you get that tank stable again. that's what i did

Ditto on the fast water change, and try to syphon the anemone out, don't lift it out with a net, it will come all appart and make a big mess.

Sorry I forgot to add that i used a papertowel in the net so it wouldnt come all apart on me like finding nemo said.

thanks for the good idea. I got the big part out and syphoned the rest. looks like the tank is stable now. amonia is fine according to the test.

Sorry for the loss. Glad you took it out fast and water is ok. Keep an eye on it tho for a few days incase there is tissue left in crevasis and decomposes.

whith in 3 minutes of taking the stinky anemone out, the fish started to level out and swim. They are doing fine now.

All I lost was the anemone, cleaner shrimp, and emrald crab. Hope thats it.
