Need help with a Refugium

Hello, I am planning to get Hang on refugium for copepods. I don't know what to put in there. Should I put live sand + live rock + chaeto, or live rock + chaeto? I heard that live sand trap detritus easily in refugium, but don't copepods help eating detritus? I would like to hear your recommendations and opinions.

Copepods will get enough from the rock and macro algae. Rock and chaeto is fine. Sand is a pita to clean
