Need help with BEST 300g Starfire Tank

Hello Everyone!

I have spent many hours reading many threads, and topics, and love how everyone is SOO helpful!! Thank you to everyone, in advance. I am really having/and have been having for the past 3 months, a VERY difficult time, and hope I can get some further insight into this dillema.

I am having a custom, hand carved mahogany cabinet being built for my showroom...

I have been in the market for a custom starphire, 300g tank...and have had terrible results. I have already lost 3 months...and expect that it will take nearly this long to order and receive this tank.

I have seen, and read a huge amount of information posted here, however, much of it is a few years old...and, if nothing else, I think I may be more confused than ever! LOL! I have been trying to do a "search" all day...but, aparently, it is over-taxed, as it cannot be accessed.

I have been looking at everything I can find on Oceanic, IA, AO, All-Glass, GlassCages, etc...and, working with LFS, have not made much progress...Prices for this tank range from $3,000. to $15,000. This is not only between manufacturers...but, several thousand dollars difference within the very same manufacturer!! I know that this is, in part, due to each of the different LFS's, and not necessarily the manufacturer.

This tank is to be Starfire on 3 sides, black back, Euro top, back corner overflows in smoked glass, 300gal.

I plan to run Barr Aquatics Skimmer, Calc, and Kalk Reactors, and custom sump, with Iwaki (2-55's, and one 100), Two Tunze Stream 6100s, with rocks, and PFO MH lighting.

I'm at a loss...sorry for the rambling...but, can someone please tell me of the significant differences between these tanks? I understand that Oceanic is the Cadillac, and I am inclined to go with them...however, are their tanks really 7-10k dollars worth of upgrades? What can I expect for this, or differences in the others compared to one another?

If anyone has this info...or, can direct me to the appropriate thread/topic, with current information on this, I would SO appreciate it!

All the Best!

ordered a similiar tank but in the 220g range from Miracle Aquariums. It is the best experience I ever had. The tank I got is as follow:

3 sides starphire, dual external overflows (1.5" drain), euro brace with 6 holes drilled for return and closed loop, two 1.5" holes drilled on the back panel. The tank measurement was 72"x30"24".

I strongly suggest you to give Derek a call and have him give you a quote before you go with anyone.

THANK YOU!

I saw a post for that company...hadn't seen anything else though. Have you already received your tank? How long did it take to build, and, aproximately, what was the price range? I see you had external overflows...

How was the caulk, and what type of glass? 19mm single? Double 12mm? Was it tempered?

Thank you SO much!

Yes, the tank was recevied in June. The original quote was 6 weeks but I got it less than that. The price includes shipping and I got it for less than $3000. The caulk was good, I had the 1/2" starphire. The euro braces were tempered. I am very happy with the tank.

Very nice!! Now I'm getting totally jealous! Have you had a chance to take some full tank shots yet? I would LOVE to see the whole set up!!

There are so many beautiful tanks on here!
