Hello Everyone!
I have spent many hours reading many threads, and topics, and love how everyone is SOO helpful!! Thank you to everyone, in advance. I am really having/and have been having for the past 3 months, a VERY difficult time, and hope I can get some further insight into this dillema.
I am having a custom, hand carved mahogany cabinet being built for my showroom...
I have been in the market for a custom starphire, 300g tank...and have had terrible results. I have already lost 3 months...and expect that it will take nearly this long to order and receive this tank.
I have seen, and read a huge amount of information posted here, however, much of it is a few years old...and, if nothing else, I think I may be more confused than ever! LOL! I have been trying to do a "search" all day...but, aparently, it is over-taxed, as it cannot be accessed.
I have been looking at everything I can find on Oceanic, IA, AO, All-Glass, GlassCages, etc...and, working with LFS, have not made much progress...Prices for this tank range from $3,000. to $15,000. This is not only between manufacturers...but, several thousand dollars difference within the very same manufacturer!! I know that this is, in part, due to each of the different LFS's, and not necessarily the manufacturer.
This tank is to be Starfire on 3 sides, black back, Euro top, back corner overflows in smoked glass, 300gal.
I plan to run Barr Aquatics Skimmer, Calc, and Kalk Reactors, and custom sump, with Iwaki (2-55's, and one 100), Two Tunze Stream 6100s, with rocks, and PFO MH lighting.
I'm at a loss...sorry for the rambling...but, can someone please tell me of the significant differences between these tanks? I understand that Oceanic is the Cadillac, and I am inclined to go with them...however, are their tanks really 7-10k dollars worth of upgrades? What can I expect for this, or differences in the others compared to one another?
If anyone has this info...or, can direct me to the appropriate thread/topic, with current information on this, I would SO appreciate it!
All the Best!
