Having problems getting proper color when taking pics of certain corals especially with only the actincs on. Per the title I am using a nikon d60. Usually use the 18-55 mm lens and I have tried using all the white balance settings. And I am a novice photographer. I am running 10 k xm with vho super actinics on the tank I'm having problems with colors in photos. The sps looks brown with nice tips. Any suggestions.

Set the "image quality" of our camera to RAW. After you load the image into your computer opens Nikon's software, Adobe Lightroom, Picaso (free), or another program able to view RAW files. *I don't know that you can edit on Picaso though.

In the RAW editor you should see many white balance options. Likely a temperature slider and an eyedropper at the very basics. If your pictures are blue, turn the slider to the right. If your pictures are red. turn the slider to the left. You can use the eye dropper to click on a neutral surface (gray). If what you tell the computer should be gray is actually blue, the program will change that color to gray and all other colors and equal increment. Experiment until your colors look right.

On my Nikon I set the picture control to VIVID and the white balance to 10000k. I adjust the white balance on the x,y graph until it looks right.
