Need help with chlorine question.

Just picked up a used tank. It has crushed coral bed about 2" deep. In a box of stuff that came with the tank was some MarOxy which contains chlorine oxides. I'm assuming the previous owner used it in the tank. The tank is empty except for the crushed coral.

My question is, if I fill it with fresh water and run carbon can I still use the substrate or is it now trash from the meds and needs to be completely replaced??

carbon will remove chlorine but i would trash the old substrate any way, and start fresh. the old owner could have used anything in the tank. also the old stuff could be full of fish poo or what ever. start fresh, youll be glad you did.
