i have a coralife skimmer on the back of my 55 and it makes way to many micro bubbles. it does not have the bubble trap. and i am having trubble coming up with a way to fix this please help

I have the same problem. I put the effluent line in the overflow. Bubbles go down in the sump. Before that, I used a filter sock. But, that was kind of ugly.

i built my own but the overflow souds real good. then i upgraded to a euro reef and do not have that problem anymore

yeah. the thing is though is that I dont have a sump set up so i can't send them down there so i need some outher idea. any ideas on how to buld someting to help. or any one have something they want to sell

Use eggcrate (from Lowes or Home Depot) and zip ties. Build a box and fill it with bio balls. Put the overflow in that. I've done that before too. It's ugly, but it works. Depending on your tank size and space, you can use live rock to hide part of the box. Plastic covers with coraline algae very fast too.

I've done them that were 4x4x6 or larger. My current system goes from my skimmer to the overflow. The overflow goes into and acrylic tank that I keep rock in for frag plugs. This tank then gravity feeds into a refugium which gravity feeds into the main sump. Kind of a goofy system, 6 tanks total, but it works for me.

Anyway, the skimmer overflow gravity feeds to a box in the sump. That box is about 6x6 and stands on end from top to bottom of the tank.

my frag tank has water that is pumped to it that generated bubbles. I just put a hang on the back plastic breeder trap in that tank and it worked fine. But, I only have a 100gph pump on that one so it is probably way to small for skimmer effluent.

I'd start with a 4 (high), 4 (wide) and 6 (long) to start and go up from there if needed.
