Need help with dusty sand..

Icefire

Seasoned reefer
Well I got 135lbs of mortar sand (100% crushed marble) which is 85% sugar sized and I guess 15% dust even after a small rinse.

Sand was put 12h ago, water is milky white, already 1/4" white very fine/smooth layer on the top.

Even if water clear up in 2-3 day, I will have a sandstorm with any fish...

Any way to screen it/ remove the dust?

Once dust free it would be quite perfect particule size.

You need an inch of something like CarabSea Seaflor Special Grade Reef Sand to cover and protect the smaller substrate. I have 6 inches or so of suger sized Aragamax Select. I didn't wash it because I wanted the small size for the DSB. With the covering layer I had no problems with dust coloring the water.

I would a green, put a little larger grain sand on top, that will help.

You can also get a HOT hang on pack or some type of other microfilter and filter it out.

I personaly would leave the fine sediment and add a little larger grain sand on top.
